Fundraising relay through bricks
Context and problems
The project aims to engage students in hands-on experiences in the design, development, and implementation of a project in close collaboration with Children's Museum Singapore (CMSG). It challenges students to address existing tasks that CMSG is currently facing to design an innovative solution that can enhance organizational development.
CMSG is a non-profit organisation that aspires to be a place of wonder and joyful learning for all children to engage with Singapore and the world. Visits to the museum are free for all Singaporeans and PR. As such, the museum needs to raise funds to run its programmes, assist in operational costs and museum expenditure.CMSG has renovated its premises and opened in 2022. During the renovation, 2000-3000 pieces of bricks were extracted from the interior of the building to create walkways. They exist as tangible memories of CMSG's past, Singapore's craftsmanship and stoic capabilities of our forefathers.
CMSG aims to engage LASALLE students to develop a fund-raising proposal with the use of the bricks that represent pieces of CMSG and Singapore's history. The proposal should draw on the historical value of the bricks as tangible connections to CMSG's past in creative ways to design an appealing offer for CMSG stakeholders and patrons to support the museum.

Key Goals and Objectives
KEY GOAL
LASALLE students are tasked to develop a fundraising proposal to raise a minimum capital of SGD 50,000 through the creative use of 2,000–3,000 conserved bricks extracted from the museum’s interior during its recent renovation.
These bricks, which once formed the fabric of the historic building that previously housed Anglo-Chinese School (Junior), represent as tangible links to Singapore’s educational and architectural heritage. Recognising their potential beyond preservation, CMSG seeks a fundraising initiative that meaningfully engages stakeholders, honours the bricks historical significance, and supports the museum’s continued mission to provide joyful, heritage-based learning experiences for children—while remaining sustainable and ready for implementation.
OBJECTIVES OF THE FUNDRAISING PROPOSAL
- Draws on the historical value of conserved bricks as tangible connections to CMSG’s past
- Proposes an innovative, low-cost concept that is ready for immediate implementation
- Designs an emotionally resonant appeal to engage CMSG stakeholders and patrons meaningfully
- Raises a minimum of S$50,000 for CMSG
