Biography

Stephanie Burridge (PhD) lectures at LASALLE College of the Arts and Singapore Management University. She trained at the Laban Center (UK), holds a BA in Anthropology/Arts History and a PhD in Contemporary Dance from London Contemporary Dance School in association with the University of Kent (UK). Stephanie was the Artistic Director of Canberra Dance Theatre (1978-2001) and was awarded the first Choreographic Fellowship at the Australian Choreographic Centre.  She has choreographed for television, opera, musical theatre, and gymnastic floor routines for Australia across three Olympic Games. She is Series Editor for Routledge anthologies Celebrating Dance in Asia and the Pacific (7 books) and Perspectives on Dance, Young People and Change, co-editor Charlotte Svendler Nielsen, Series Foreword by Sir Ken Robinson (3 books). In 2021 she edited the Routledge Companion for Dance in Asia and the Pacific: Platforms for Change and co-authored Routledge Choreographic Basics with Jennifer Roche (University of Limerick). Her current choreographic focus and research are collaborating with senior artists.
