Context and problems
The Projects aim to engage students in hands-on experiences in the design, development, and implementation of a project in close collaboration with NHB. It challenges students to address existing problems that NHB is currently facing to design an innovative solution that can enhance organizational development.
The challenge is to design and execute programme(s) that would increase the general public’s interest and sustained engagement with the heritage businesses selected for Street Corner Heritage Galleries (SCHG): Katong-Joo Chiat edition. Under this scheme, NHB works closely with interested owners of heritage businesses with at least 30 years of history to co-curate and co-create “mini-museums” at their premises that showcase the history and heritage of their businesses and trades, accompanied by historical documents, photographs, artefacts, etc.

Project Deliverables and Outputs
Development of 1 heritage trail programme for businesses on the SCHG Katong Joo Chiat that would encourage people to engage/visit the display cases and learn more about the heritage of these businesses. This should include a trail route and resources (guided trail script, map and a series of short-form interview videos of featured businesses). Students may explore creative ways of engagement for the trail, such as gamification or activities. Students should conduct at least one pilot run of the programme proposed to test the feasibility of the project.
