Context and problems
STPI is a premier non-profit creative workshop and gallery in Singapore, dedicated to promoting artistic experimentation in the mediums of print and paper.By collaborating with leading international and local artists, its innovative workshop produces groundbreaking works exhibited globally, strengthening Singapore's artistic presence. Committed to pushing artistic boundaries, STPI fosters public engagement through exhibitions, art fairs, and outreach programs. It serves a diverse community—from the public and students to collectors—deepening appreciation for art and ensuring a dynamic platform for creative experimentation.
The project aims to engage a group of LASALLE students to design a Curatorial Plan for STPI’s Open House to bridge the current disconnect between its popular, kid-friendly activities and its core artistic mission. To re-align the event with culture seekers (tertiary students and working adults), students will audit past Open House events to identify gaps. They will then design a new thematic narrative and visitor journey that integrates both the gallery and the creative workshop's role as STPI. Finally, students will prototype interactive stations that demystify the artist-workshop-gallery relationship, transforming the event into an engaging, educational experience for all ages that reflects STPI’s professional practice.
Testimonials
"It has been a joy working with both the students & LASALLE College of the Arts on a such a wonderful initiative. STPI not only benefited from the fresh insights and ideas that the students contributed through the project, we were also very impressed by the calibre of students and quality of work produced.
The team exhibited a high level of commitment, initiative, and professionalism in bringing the project from its research stage to a workable, executable solution. The team also went above and beyond the project brief, bringing with them valuable perspectives backed by on-the-ground & desktop research, sparking meaningful conversations about the future of audience engagement.
We are also very grateful to the guidance, support, and dedication of their supervisor, Shireen Marican who created a collaborative environment that encouraged both creative and critical thinking.
We are glad that our project was selected this year and we would like to thank all students and faculty members involved. We hope to be able to have more opportunities to collaborate with LASALLE in the near future."
