LASALLE x AAAE
Context and problems
LASALLE College of the Arts is hosting the 2027 Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE) Conference, themed “Shared Histories, Uncharted Realities: Cultural Management in a Complex World” and ENCATC Cultural Tour in collaboration with Asia Europe Foundation. As the premier global gathering of arts administrators, educators, and cultural policymakers moves to Southeast Asia, BA Arts Management (BAAM) Year 2 students are tasked with designing and delivering the end-to-end conference and tour experiences.
Rather than serving as mere ground support, students will bridge critical theory and live cultural practice. You will orchestrate every delegate touchpoint—from conceptualising immersive pre-conference cultural tours that bypass standard tourism for deep socio-cultural engagement, to managing operations at the Opening and Closing Reception.
During the main conference (3–6 June), teams will oversee venue logistics across LASALLE facilities, manage technical hospitality, liaise with local vendors and caterers, present in an Academic Panel, and coordinate extended post-conference programmes with ENCATC and ASEF (6–10 June). Your challenge is to curate an intellectually rigorous, authentic, and operationally seamless delegate journey that showcases Singapore’s complex arts ecosystem while upholding LASALLE’s institutional excellence.
Student Entitlements & Professional Benefits
Considering the scale of the project and its strategic importance to LASALLE’s international standing, participating students are entitled to the following benefits:
- Internship Hour Recognition: Formal accreditation and logging of all project working hours toward degree internship requirements.
- Full Conference Access & Academic Profile: Complimentary registration to all conference proceedings, along with a formal speaking and presentation slot on the Student Academic Panel.
- High-Level International Networking: Direct access to global leaders, prominent scholars, and policymakers across AAAE, ENCATC, ANCER and ASEF networks to build pathways for postgraduate study and career development.
- Curated Industry Engagement: Complimentary entry to all site excursions, cultural tours, and receptions, including exclusive interaction with C-suite and senior management across Singapore’s leading cultural institutions.
Project Deliverables and Outputs
Students must translate their holistic conference experience design into two primary components:
1. The Conference & Cultural Tour Prospectus (10–12 pages) A comprehensive operational and curatorial master plan detailing the following:
- Curatorial Concept: Intellectually grounded thematic frameworks connecting tour sites and conference events to AAAE’s core themes.
- Logistical Execution Plans: Minute-by-minute run sheets, route maps, delegate capacities, registration tracking workflows, and contingency management for concurrent cultural tours and multi-room LASALLE sessions.
- Financial Breakdown: Per-pax pricing models, internal vendor quotations, catering logistics, transport arrangements and site entry fees.
- Hospitality & Protocol Strategy: Delegate communication plans, ushering protocols, technical AV run-downs, and coordination guidelines for the Opening, Closing, and partner programmes with ENCATC/ASEF.
2. On-Site Operational Delivery & Academic Presentation:
- Active, real-time management of conference delegates, venue coordination, vendor liaison, and tour guidance across the 3–10 June schedule.
- Research, preparation, and formal delivery of a student-led panel presentation during the main academic conference proceedings.
